Locate files and folders by name instantly (Windows)

File search is without question the slowest and most archaic function of Windows. If you work with various files on many hard drives - as I do - you quickly learn to despise locating files in Windows explorer - especially when all you can remember is a partial file name. "Everything" by Voidtools solves this annoyance by locating files and folders in milliseconds.

When searching for a file,  start typing the file/folder name or partial name and see results as you type. "Everything" only indexes file and folder names and generally takes a few seconds to build its database, indexing 100,000 files in less than one second using under 14MB of RAM and less than 9MB of disk space.

One system we use this on has 20 hard drives and thousands of files, "Everything" finds the one file we seek within a millisecond. Raw speed.

"Everything" uses very few system resources, supports network drives, is malware-free, costs nothing, and is well supported and documented.

One of the best utilities you'll ever love to use.
